Right, I'm a bit late with this post. I've already assembled and tested the electronics that I bought from learcnc on eBay. Everything works so far. I didn't receive the cable set, so they're sending that to me. Still waiting for it to arrive.
The glass bed I ordered from them arrived in pieces.
They are sending me a new one, that being their policy. How awesome is that! I'm truly impressed with the service I've gotten from them.
I've tested the electronics, and I'm very happy with it. The Mega 2560 is a Taurino Power version, which should be able to run off 12VDC or 24VDC, but I'm not sure about the polyfuse at 16V. Better not risk it and use 12VDC if possible.
So I've modified a PC power supply. That went rather well. I found this page helpful.
The stepper motors all turn nicely and I've played around with the display. Loading a gcode file to the SD card and starting a print seems to work, although with the hotbed not connected it only waits for the temperature to rise.
I need the cables to finish the hotbed, so I'm back to waiting for parts...
